From Yuma, AZ to San Diego

We really enjoyed our stay in Arizona but both of us realized we are not desert people. The sand, the dirt, the lack of vegetation had us looking forward to getting out of Arizona and heading West to California where we would meet up with green vegetation, grass, trees and of course the ocean and more warm weather.

Our drive across highway 8 was very scenic. The mountains in California had some of the most stunning rock formations either of us had ever seen. It just seemed that God sprinkled these massive boulders into unusual piles and then created some color to impress everyone who saw them.

We had one mountain pass to climb which really didn't give the coach much of a work out. The elevation was 4,000 ft. so it wasn't a big pull to get to the top. Going down the other side was annoying as the downward grade was 6 %  for 12 miles. I was constantly having to watch my speed and use the exhaust brake to control it. These big buses can really pick up forward speed going down steep grades.

Overall, the trip across highway 8  was pleasant and scenic and uneventful. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

A view out the window of Interstate 8 Some of these rock formations were just amazing.
Pulled off onto an off ramp, I needed to make a bathroom break. I also used this time to snap a few pictures. I walked to the top of the hill to snap a few pictures and every step was placed carefully as I looked for rattlesnakes. :)
A shot Ally took from the    co-pilots seat on I-8. These rocks have obviously been there for a while. Notice how smooth they are, worn down from the elements and father time.
The mountain range we went over was filled with scenes like this. At the top of one of hills

The picture of this wind farm does no justice to the shear size of these windmills. The blades are massive and each blade has to measure at least 75 feet in length.
