Spring Break 2009
What an awesome time we had. We have made it a ritual during Ally's spring break to load the coach and take off for the Atlantic side of Florida so Ally can get her " beach fix ". But this year was different as we met up with dear friends of ours ( Michael & Michelle Woodman ) and their daughters, Kristin and Kimberly. ( Ally and I were both astounded by both of these girls. They are some of the most polite and respectable girls we have ever met. Awesome kids raised by two awesome parents.)
Michael and I were able to do some bench flying and of course reaffirm that our beloved Marine Corp's is the greatest fighting military branch in the world. Michael flew F-4 Phantoms back in his pilot days and I enjoyed hearing about his stories of squadron life. What was hilarious was that we had a former Squid ( Navy ) F-18 hornet pilot staying next to Michaels rig. I do have to say Michael and I both behaved ourselves and didn't ride the guy to hard for being in the wrong branch of the service. Actually, I thought we were damn polite to the guy. :)
The girls did their girl thing of course. Shopping, yacking, knitting, crafts and trying to settle some of the worlds problems ( specifically those troubles created by us men ). They also colored some Easter eggs and this was Ally's first time ever doing this. She had a ball coloring the eggs and it made our Easter so much better. The eggs by the way were delicious. :)
We had a great time and during the course of our 4 days together we gave the grill a great workout. We ate, drank ( compliments of our bartender extraordinaire Michael who kept the drinks flowing to the women ). We laughed, shared, smiled and did what great friends do, support each other, enjoy each other and remain thankful for each others company and friendships.
After spending 4 days with the Woodman Klan we both packed up and headed out. Kristan and Kimberly had school the next day so they had to head for home. We headed up the coast to Melbourne to further our R & R venture and also allow Ally time to swim in the ocean and get her beach time in. While we stayed at another Outdoor Resorts in Port St Lucie, we made reservations and was staying a couple extra days at the Outdoor Resorts located 75 miles north. This resort had much smaller sites but the location was awesome. They had 3 pools and one was on the beach. It also had its own private beach as well for the residents. The resort is sandwiched between the Indian River and the Atlantic.
What was ironic was that I seen a place in the Resort with a Lansing, MI sign and went to knock on the door to see if I may know them and when the guy came out, low and behold he was a former client of mine. We had a great chat and come to find out his brother Ron was there as well. They own several lots in this resort and the majority are prime sites right on the water with boat lifts, etc. We had a good time chatting and catching up with each other.
Of course Tessa got to get her ocean fix as well and went swimming a couple times, once in the Indian river ( which is ocean fed and salt water ). She loves the water and really enjoys running along the beach.
All in all, we had a great time and the trip was uneventful with the bus. It was awesome to catch up with Michelle and Michael again. I am sure this will probably be an annual event as we really enjoy spending time with them.
