Outdoor Resorts

Port St Lucie, Florida

3 / 2008

Ally and I loaded up the coach and headed to Outdoor Resorts, one of the top RV resorts in the USA. Our wonderful friends, Jim & Mary gave us a coupon for 4 days and 3 nights free so we decided to take up the offer and head over there for some R & R.

What a gorgeous resort. This is truly a high end motorcoach only resort. Impeccably maintained and looked after we felt a bit out of place, even with our coach. Million dollar coaches inhabit this resort and the lots located there are all privately owned. Some sites boast $ 50 K in landscaping and other amenities. It was quiet, peaceful and enjoyable.

While here, I took Ally on a tour of the Port St Lucie / Jensen Beach area. We drove out to Hutchinson Island and I showed her the Condo complex I used to work at. During my brief time living in this area I helped build this condo community. We also stopped off at the " House of Refuge " where the sea turtles come to shore during egg laying season. This area has a rocky outcrop located at the shoreline and I believe maybe one of the only ones in Florida. The rocks are amazing to see.

Overall, we had a great and relaxing time and of course Tessa got her chance to go swimming in the ocean.   ( This dog LOVES the ocean ).

When we left the resort we headed to Lake Okeechobee and then wound down towards Alligator Alley via the everglades. It was a very relaxing drive and yes, we seen dozens of gators during this part of the trip. We spent the night at an outlet mall in Miramor and then drove the Gulf Coast back home. It was a wonderful vacation for us and we had a really nice and relaxing time.

I have attached some pictures of our Spring Break vacation below. Enjoy.

Outdoor entertainment areas like this are popular here Another million dollar coach
One of my favorite coaches of all time. A Newell, which is way out of price range :) One of the nicest sites in the resort.
Look at the back of the goose decoy. This bird perched there for a long time. Chris at the House of Refuge
The house of Refuge located on Hutchinson Island This area is where the sea turtles come in to lay their eggs.
This rocky out crop at the House of Refuge is a rare sight in Florida. I know of no other area like this in the State There are hollowed out eroded areas in this rock that allows the water to spray up and through.
A great place to sit and watch the sunrise and set Fletchers Beach located on Hutchinson Island.
Tessa is our beach/ocean dog. She loves running on the shore and then heading out towards the surf We have to constantly watch her as she will head to far out into the ocean. She loves the water.
Tessa keeping guard of our site for us. The Everglades. This stream runs the entire length of Alligator Alley and is loaded with gators.
