Rocky Mountain Park

I can say breath taking and I wouldn't be called a liar. The elevation alone can take your breath away. ") Ally and I set our own personal elevation record by getting up to 13,000 ft. This put us into the Alpine Tundra zone in the Rockies and it was a magnificent view. We didn't stay long as Mum got dizzy and started getting altitude sickness so we had to hurry down to a lower elevation. Still we did get to shoot a few pictures and see the tundra area. There was a lot of snow up there which was amazing as when we left the campground it was a warm 85 degrees. Once up to the top we had to grab our jackets as it was cold and windy.

We all found the Colorado Rockies in this area spectacular. The rock formations and varying landscape ( not to mention the climate ) gave us some awesome photo opportunities. I tried to capture them for you below and hope you enjoy them.

I stopped and took this photo of the river located in Drake, CO. I also got the chance to chat with two fly fishermen who were after brown trout. We made it a point to pull off into the overlook parking areas to grab some photos. This was one of those stops
Every turn gave us the chance for another photo opportunity Peaks of the Rockies
Another great view and vantage point Awesome scenery and an awesome day

Some of the Alpine Tundra area One gorgeous shot
The remnants of a volcano. There were lots of lava rock around that area Yes there was alot of snow in the higher elevations. Amazing when you consider we were in 85 degree temperatures 45 minutes before this photo was taken.
The melt off of the snow helped feed the reservoir and rivers below. An Elk herd minding their own business and grazing.
While shooting a photo a bird appeared in front of me looking for a handout. Mum & Ally near the river in Drake
Chris & Ally at 13,000 ft. We set our own personal record that day for the highest elevation either of us have experienced. You cannot have a day of sight seeing without a nice picnic up in the mountains.
While eating, a little friend popped in looking for us to share some of our lunch :) An explanation of the layers of life found in the Rockies.
