The Santa Fe Area

There is so much to see and do in this area and we logged a lot of miles traveling around the area surrounding Santa Fe, exploring, taking pictures and seeing all that the area has to offer.

We were astounded by some of its beauty and enjoyed each trip we took into the mountains. Being a high desert area, we found it to be dry but still wonderful. Some areas we drove too, other areas we stumbled upon by getting lost. One wrong turn added 100 extra miles to our journey that day. :) But we drove through a few small villages that made the trip worthwhile.

Hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed taking them.

This diner may look familiar to you. It was the diner front used in the movie Wild Hogs I had to get a picture of myself in front of the diner. I also picked up a Wild Hogs T-Shirt as well. :)
This is the street in Madrid, NM where they filmed part of the movie Madrid is a strange little town . You never know what your going to find here. Check out this place.
Yup, you were right. Its a box car sitting on a lot in town. :) The vegetation resembles that of a high desert area. Santa Fe is at 7,000 ft and the climate is considered dry.
The rock formations were amazing in NM. Especially in this area. Rock formations such as this appear out of no where. They sit by themselves in empty fields.
Here is another we found along side the road. It makes you think God dotted the landscape here and there to make things interesting
Small hills can be found in areas around Santa Fe such as this. This formation was very unique in size and shape
Mountains in the distance This photo was shot from the Sandia Crest
Another view atop the Sandia Crest This mountain/rock formation reminded us both of a formation in the Blue Mountains in Australia called the 3 sisters.
Looking out off the Sandia Crest A nice backdrop for a photo
The Carson National Forest near Taos, NM Ally shot this photo from the car as we were heading home. It was taken near Madrid. The colors of the sunsets in NM are awesome.
I stopped a young couple and pointed to this tree and said:

" That tree reminds me of myself. Half dead but still hanging on ".

That city below the Sandia Crest is Albuquerque, NM
If you look closely you will see where this canyon is cut out. Looking down on the Rio Grande Gorge from the bridge.

It was a long ways down there and we walked across the bridge that took you over this gorge. It was downright scary as the bridge shook like crazy and felt like it was going to come apart whenever cars or trucks went over it.
