Springs & Geysers

What amazing geology Yellowstone is. I was just fascinated with the geysers and hot springs that were found throughout Yellowstone. Even the arid smell of sulfur was pleasing when you stood there and watched the water bubble up from the ground and give off steam.

We did catch Old Faithful and it really spewed which was pleasing to the thousand or so people who waited patiently for it to erupt. The multi colored rocks and sediment from these hot springs were magnificent and I tried to catch their beauty with the camera, but not being a professional the photos do the actual geysers and springs no justice.

Hope you enjoy the photos !!

A few people wait for Old Faithful to Erupt :) Old Faithful Lets go with water and steam
The faithful geyser blew water and steam for several minutes before taking a rest This helps show where and what these springs and geysers are
This photo does not do this spring justice. It is actually a multitude of colors Another hot spring we found with a beautiful back drop of rock
The sediment that pours out of these hot springs colors the rock underneath This hot springs had a one foot shelf area around it
Another small spring that weeped sediment out coloring the rock beneath it More colors and a large sedimentation area
This lone tree grew out of the top of what I believe to be an ancient spring since turned rock. More colors from a spring. No that is not snow in the background.
This rock stood all by itself in a parking lot near Mammoth Hot Springs. I had to get a picture Explanation on springs
