The Miss Ella

Yes folks we bought a boat. We picked his boat up very cheap and I am in the early stages of redoing the upholstery on it. We hope to have it in the water once all these hurricanes subside and the seas are a bit more calm. We purchased the boat strictly for fishing and because of the deep V hull we can safely use it out in in the Gulf.

The boat itself is in great condition ( despite the ugly and worn interior ). The hull is solid as a rock as is the transom. The engine was just replaced and the outdrive gone through as well. We elected to name the boat after our Granddaughter Ella.

I am going to be very brief with my explanation of the boat here and will go back and update this page  later on.

Here are the specs.

1983 Wellcraft 20 ft. Elite

Chevy 350 / 260 HP engine

Mercruiser I/O - Alpha 1

The Dash has a full gauge panel The AFT seating area was in terrible shape. The cushions were broken down and the vinyl old, cracking and faded
A side shot of the AFT seating area The front cockpit area is getting different seating
Upper aft cover was in the worse shape of all. The vinyl was completely shot. You can see rips and the vinyl coming apart on the engine cover
The side panels are in good shape but getting changed out to match the new interior colors The bow cushions are all getting recovered as well
I removed all the foam, old fabric and then cleaned the marine grade plywood. I then decided to seal all of the plywood before recovering them with new vinyl.
This engine cover is going to be a real project. It has so many different angles that it will require a large number of seams. This part of the project is NOT going to be fun. :)
A look at the new AFT seat. I have never seen one made and had no idea on where to start. It came out " OK " but I am far from happy with it
