Loft Mountain

Shenandoah National Park

One of the nicest and prettiest National parks we have been in on the East side of the USA is the Shenandoah National park, located near Williamsburg, VA. We decided to take a trip up into the mountains on this part of the Blue Ridge Parkway and headed to the campground at Loft Mountain. We made this trip shortly after buying our coach and it being new and me still trying to get used to the exhaust brake and the coaches sheer size, it was a nervous trip up the side of those mountains. :)

What a spectacular campground it was. All paved and the site we had was very private. It offered us our own little oasis with all the trees and bushes. They had an onsite firepit and while there were no utilities, we still came off the mountain with plenty of water and room in our holding tanks. We boondocked up there for 4 days and had a blast. It was such a relaxing atmosphere and the park was very quiet.

Adding to our pleasures were the deer that constantly wandered right into your campsite. There was wildlife everywhere and we had a lot of fun sitting, relaxing and watching for them.

We did take a drive in the tow car and visited a few places there, but most of our time was spent relaxing and enjoying the peace and quiet at the campground. We took several pictures, but they do not do this park justice. It is one of those places that you just have to visit and see the sites to really enjoy its beauty. Enjoy the picture below.
