Latest News for the Month of August 2006 Hey Gang: Is it true ? Just a little over one month of summer left ? Good Golly Miss Molly.....Where did the summer go to. To be honest I wished fall was here now to give us all some relief from this HOT summer. Speaking of heat, Ally and I went to Hilton Head two weeks ago and stayed at a gorgeous motorcoach resort out on the island. Besides boiling for 4 days we did have a great time. This resort was probably the nicest we have ever stayed in. It had a wood / forest feeling to it but yet was very much a 5 star resort with it's manicured lots and landscaping. We had a lot on the small lake there and it had little shade so we baked in the sun the whole time we were there. It wasn't very good planning on my part. :) Ally was able to get to the beach and had a nice swim in the Atlantic Ocean. I couldn't believe how warm the ocean water was, it was like bath water. Even Tessa got her swim in at the ocean and had a ball. I myself stayed out of the water. I am not very enthusiastic about swimming in the ocean as I have been stung by jellyfish, caught in a rip tide once and I also will admit I am a poor swimmer. I love swimming in pool's, but hate swimming in lakes and oceans. Ally on the other hand grew up on the Pacific Ocean and has taught swimming to kids and teens for years. She can swim like a fish and with all the nasty creatures in the Tasmanian Sea in Australia what we have here doesn't bother her a bit. I will occasionally wade into the ocean, but that's about it. :) Kim and her new hubby Dave returned from their honeymoon and had a great time. It just seems weird to have her married and its actually been a sad moment for Ally. The two spent a great deal of time on the phone or doing things together and the marriage I believe will mark a new chapter in Kim's life. I am sure she will be busy with her new hubby. I told Ally not to expect to hear from her as much or see her that often. Life changes and we all open new chapters to our lives. Kim is no different and will embark on a new journey. Still its a happy moment yet a sad one when your best friend gets married and moves on in life. We are hard at work here trying to get a few projects out of the way at home. Ally just planted a nice flower / shrub garden in the back and did some landscaping. The nexct huge project is to install a new deck and after that put new vinyl siding on the house. We really want to get these things done and out of the way so we can place this house on the market and get rid of it. We can then start on our new property and building adventure. Because we have so many Mexican immigrants in the country I plan on hiring some day laborers to do allot of the work for us as I physically cannot do it myself. But I can supervise and direct people still.....:) I managed to power wash our next door neighbors home. I feel bad for her as she is a 76 year old single lady with no family close by to help her so I did my good deed for the week and washed down her house for her. I have a soft spot in my heart for the elderly and feel we should all look after them as they sometimes are helpless in doing things like this on their own. It is also good to remember that they have very little money to pay anyone to do these projects for them because of their meager social security wages so doing these things for seniors has to come from the heart with an expectation of no pay. I honestly believe we get blessed in the end in other ways. Speaking of money I took a huge bath on the stock market last week. I was heavily invested in Fed Ex and it dropped like a rock at the start of last week over poor earnings reports from UPS, their biggest competitor. But because the market is so fickle, I held in there and the stock righted itself and I was near even again by Friday. If you want to meet a bunch of people suffering from psychosis, venture over to Wall Street and talk with some of the financial analysts and traders. These people are as fickle and wacked out as they come. They run stocks up one day over some crazy earnings reports or news items that have little concern to the companies health and then the next day trash an entire industry over one companies performance. I actually laugh my butt off over their reports and their reactions to corporate news and earnings reports. But its these fickle moments that provide me the buying and selling opportunities. :) I recently read where more then $ 10 is added to each barrel of oil over the perceived risk of Iran. The traders just added 3 dollars a barrel to the oil prices over the Lebanon / Israeli conflict and the hilarious part is that neither country even produces oil. It isn't a conspiracy by the way to jack up the price of oil, these traders are just nut's and over react to every bit of news that comes from the Mid East. They read things into the market that isn't there and then we all pay for their psychotic behavior. Drives ya crazy huh ? Enough ranting over these dummies. Health wise its been a rough week. I have battled cluster headaches, fevers and chills all week long. I seem to not be able to get my internal body temperature regulated correctly. Either I am cold or burning up with a fever. It is like having a perpetual flu bug and it gets downright annoying and makes you feel terrible. I don't have any new blood test results to report as I haven't had any done in the last two weeks. :) I will be going soon though and will let everyone know where things stand. With the fevers and chills and the headaches, I do believe the results will show a marked decrease in the condition of my bone marrow. Will keep you posted. I will be back to give you an update again soon. Until then, behave and enjoy. I hope we all get some relief from this nasty heat wave soon. My best to you all, Chris
